The results are in! GSM Golf are pleased to have once again secured prominent positions in Golf Australia’s biennial ranking of the Top-100 Public Access Courses in the nation.

We were thrilled to see St Andrews Beach Golf Course retained its impressive #4 position in Public Course Rankings!  The overall #4 ranking means that St Andrews Beach once again retains it’s standing as the highest rated public golf course on the Australian mainland.

A stunning achievement for the entire St Andrews Beach team as well as GSM who now enter our second decade managing the venue.

As a public access golf course, one of the things we continue to be most proud of is providing access to such a premium golf experience to all players, 7 days a week! St Andrews Beach Golf Course is both beloved by locals whilst maintaining its status as a true ‘bucket list’ destination for players travelling from all corners of the globe!

Pleasingly, Growling Frog Golf Course’s position continued to climb in the 2023 course rankings – surging another 3 places to be ranked the 75th best public access golf course in Australia! It’s amazing to think how far the venue has come in just a few short years.

Graham Marsh’s course design continues to mature into the spectacular Australian landscape, complimented by GSMs ongoing improvements of the venue including upgrades to the driving range and introduction of a state-of-the-art GPS golf carts.

The team at Growling Frog and GSM are thrilled to have received this recognition and are proud to offer what we believe is one of the best public access experiences available in the region!

We are disappointed that Peregian and Bay Views did not feature in the Top 100 this year, however we have it on good authority that they are knocking on the door in 2025!

Judge’s Comments: “St Andrews Beach has an incredibly diverse offering of holes that test every facet of your game. Imaginative bunkering lines the journey into equally creative greenscapes that are usually just a continuation of the rolling fairway in front. Standing over a ball 15-foot off a green, with 25 feet to the flag, offers the chance to play four or five different shots with a range of clubs.” – Brendan James.

“World renowned course designer Tom Doak created this marvellous layout on land he later described is being ‘perfect for golf’. I couldn’t agree more.” – Paul Wilson.

Judge’s Comment: “A beautiful Australian setting for golf just a short drive out of Melbourne to the north. Magnificent old red river gums and huge eucalypts dot the Graham Marsh-designed course, which has been created with golfers of all standards in mind.”
– James Walsh.

“Growling Frog has some really cool holes – the hairpin loop of the par-4 4th, par-3 5th and par-4 6th is a good example – and interesting green complexes where expansive bunkers mounds and swales co-exist. The high quality of the bentgrass greens is also of note” Tristan Holmes.

“After paying $40 for 18 holes here, I expected a $40 golfing experience. I would have happily paid double to play Growling Frog again.” – Paul Wilson.
